The last thing you forget.

This is piece began life by spooling the thread around pins places randomly with a repetitive pattern.

Fiber. Notch. A.

A geometric circle in plan is transformed in it's elevation to create an object roughly based on the Fibonacci sequence.

The Stork

the wire and the string kept each other in tension creating free flowing forms , the colour that hangs like a basket reminded me of that which a stork would carry.

Gone With The Breeze
Catapult
-wooden skewers and black tape

It began as a series of interlocking arches but because of the material characteristics together it kept spraining open and re-forming itself back into its natural form. The scary process lead to an intimidating animal like form , still with the hint of the gentle curves it started out with.

the first location shows it in movement
the second shows it resting in a ceiling corner

Transparency in Motion

I began by thinking about music notes and sound waves. I connected both ends of the wire to the board and and then played around with how I could use the threads to manipulate the wire into different shapes which resembled fluidity and motion.

your thoughts!!

It's great to see the blog filling up with your work. While the workshop is fresh in your mind i would recommend that you put a sentence to each piece of work, either about your process or what you have learned, what you tried or what worked for you.

Good luck tomorrow!!!

Opposites

String, being inherently loose and flowing, becomes rigid and geometrical.
While the wire, which is naturally straight, becomes free to dance.

Creating Volume with String and Wire

I made a circle of pins and perpendicular to this the bent wire came out of the wall. The idea was to create a hemisphere by using the Cartesian plane. The wire gave no friction to support the string.

Ventriloquism

i found this material difficult to work with so a familiar image gave rise to this piece.
